The Outrigger™ Network Extension System is a tactical module designed to extend the capabilities of the communications systems aboard a Mobile Command Center Vehicle (MCV), Communications Trailer or FlyAway system to meet the operational footprint of an incident.  When connected to compatible products, the Outrigger becomes an expansion of the communication system and can provide additional connections for up to 24 computers and phones.  This extension also provides an integrated wireless access-point for convenience and additional expansion of the wireless coverage area.  When configured for such an activity, Outrigger modules may be cascaded for enhanced reach or footprint. 

In the incident environment, the Outrigger utilizes tactical-grade fiber and a user friendly ruggedized connector to expand capability into a fixed facility or Base of Operations to provide essential communications.  The Outrigger also can provide backup recovery to an EOC, PSAP or Alternate Care Facility by connecting the mobile communications system into existing fiber optic or Ethernet-based networks within the facility.  Used as a COOP tool, the Outrigger Network Extension System allows the user to provide solid communications to any facility (i.e. Gymnasium, Shelter Tent, or Hangar). 

   

Secure Communications

The Outrigger Network Extension system can also be configured in military applications for multiple levels of secure information processing. Utilizing a specialized version of the Outrigger and an integrated HAIPE device (such as a KG-250) provides "red over black tunneling" to link different enclaves back to classified networks for processing secure information or secure VoIP.  In this case, the wireless access point is removed.  Because the system ties back to the command vehicle utilizing fiber optics, this system provides an approved method for transporting secure communications in even the most austere environments while offering the flexibility of using fixed facilities for processing classified material.
