Moses Cone Upgrades Capabilities on Critical Incident Support Unit

Stevensville, MD (January 29, 2009) - Incident Communication Solutions, LLC (ICS) has recently upgraded the capabilities of the Moses Cone Health System Critical Incident Support Unit (CISU). The CISU is a mobile communications solution that can be deployed rapidly and serves as a communications back-up to hospital resources.   On-board systems provide mobile and scalable communications which can be integrated into a hospital information system or function as a self-reliant communications system.

The installation of ICS’ VehiclePowerTM solution provides the CISU with a robust on-board AC power system, improving the unit’s power efficiency and quality.  ICS also upgraded the CISU’s physical network wiring and installed additional Satellite equipment which will give the team greater communication capabilities. The addition of the MSV MSAT G2 allows the CISU to communicate thru Push-to-Talk Radio over Satellite allowing hospital emergency management personnel to communicate with other hospitals in the system, County Agencies, or State Officials. Satellite DSS service was also added allowing personnel to monitor news outlets and other programming useful for situational awareness.

This most recent installation comes as a second round of updates to the CISU performed by ICS.  In 2008, ICS installed a TICSTM system into the vehicle increasing the unit’s functionality. The TICS system provides emergency management and hospital officials the ability to communicate via Voice and Data over broadband satellite.
