STEVENSVILLE, Md. - Incident Communication Solutions (ICS) has recently retrofitted the Richmond (VA) Police Department’s Mobile Command Unit (MCU) to provide the agency with greater communication capabilities and access.
Richmond Police Department (RPD) took delivery of their MCU which was fully integrated by ICS to include satellite connectivity, advanced IP Networking, and various other types of communications. A TracStar .75 meter satellite dish was installed to provide the vehicle with greater broadband VSAT access speed and improving overall connectivity.
Utilizing ICS’ Tactical-IPTM Satellite Connectivity for First Responders, the Richmond MCU can maintain communication regardless of location or conditions. ICS’ broadband VSAT service allows for 3Mb/s download and 1Mb/s upload anywhere in the continental United States giving responders with solid reachback to agency resources and provide situational awareness and operational information to the PD command staff.
Richmond is the capital and the third largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The RPD is the primary law enforcement agency servicing 200,123 people within 62.5 square miles of jurisdiction within Richmond, VA. The retrofit and upgrade of the RPD MCU will provide the city of Richmond with a more comprehensive communications asset and resource.
