STEVENSVILLE, Md. –Calvert County (MD) Sheriff’s Department has taken delivery of a MBF custom mobile command center with a comprehensive communications package fully integrated by Incident Communication Solutions, LLC (ICS). Built on a truck chassis with an MBF "Modular Re-Mountable" body, the Calvert County MCV will be used throughout the county for exercises, deployments, and emergencies. The vehicle will be available for use by all Public Safety agencies in Southern Maryland.
The communications integration package by ICS consists of a turn-key advanced IP network complete with 3G cellular and satellite connectivity, giving Calvert County Sheriff’s Department access to critical communications in any situation. Utilizing ICS Tactical-IPSM Broadband VSAT Satellite Services the MCV will be able to access mission data, transmit real-time video and have voice connectivity no matter location or environment.
Another key feature of the MCV’s network is a comprehensive voice communications system. Cisco IPICS enables “comprehensive communications interoperability between different networks, devices, and agencies”, enhancing Public Safety operational communications throughout Southern Maryland.
The mobile command vehicle was purchased using $752,000 in funding secured by House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer in the fiscal 2008 Omnibus Appropriations Bill. Although the vehicle will be headquartered in Calvert County, it was purchased for use in Calvert, Charles, and St. Mary’s Counties in Maryland.
