STEVENSVILLE, Md. – Incident Communication Solution’s, LLC (ICS) announces that the Greensboro Fire Department has taken delivery of a TCOMM (Tactical Communications Unit) powered by the TICS® System for use by the department and the Urban Area Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force-6 tactical communications.
The NC USAR TF-6 Tactical Communications unit consists of ICS’ Tactical Incident Communications System (TICS), LMR radios and other communications gear mounted on a Chevrolet Avalanche. The system provides high-speed broadband Satellite Internet connectivity allowing the Fire Department and USAR TF-6 team the capability to communicate with data and voice from any location and under any conditions using the Tactical-IPSM “Responder” and Tactical-VoiceSM services.
Utilizing ICS’ VehiclePowerTM underhood generator, the unit provides up to 7.5kW of AC power to the TCOMM’s systems allowing the Task Force to operate in the most austere conditions. Once on scene, typical setup of the entire system takes under 15 minutes. Coupled to the task force’s Base-of-Operations trailer, the TCOMM provides voice and data to the Command and Logistics teams throughout the deployment area of operation.
NC-USAR TF-6 is the latest of the 11 USAR teams in the State of North Carolina to adopt the TICS system. Charlotte Fire Department’s Task Force-3 also uses the TICS for communications at the incident site.
